Rest assured, there will not be any technical jargon. The format will be conversational and informal. Seminars will be about an hour and a half; though we can extend the time if the participants wish. Generally, I plan to hold the seminars immediately following the Saturday scheduled runs.
Briefly, the agenda will be as follows:
- We will commence with several participants describing their most recent injuries and what they believe may have caused them.
- Then we will very briefly discuss several antiquated dogmas that attempt to explain the cause for running injuries and why they don't even pass the common sense test.
- Next, we will discuss the basics of modern, research science's understanding of running injuries.
- I will cover the modern approach to avoid running injuries. This will cover the principles so, in the future, you can devise specific techniques to address your particular needs.
- Finally, I'll describe, demonstrate and have all participants practice several simple "Running-Specific Strength Training" [RSST] exercises that are very effective in helping to avoid running injuries. Incidentally, the same RSST drills will also help improve your running performance.

I have set up a signup registry to help me gauge how much interest exists and to schedule the sessions. The signup registry includes questions about your personal running injuries. This information will help me organize the sessions to ensure the most prevalent problems among our members are covered.

Several folks have asked if they can, and would it be worthwhile to, attend more than one session. Definitely, though the material will be essentially the same for each of the sessions, it is rather comprehensive and a lot to absorb at one time. Plus, we'll be doing a variety of RSST drills at all sessions.
Also, several folks, who attended the first two seminars, requested a follow-up seminar devoted to designing personal avoidance programs and practice of additional Running-Specific Strength Training drills. Here is the link to the signup page Advanced Avoidance Seminar Signup Registry
I will be emailing everyone listed in the signup registry when the next session, and subsequent sessions, will be held. Generally, they will be immediately following the Saturday scheduled 5 mile runs.
Be prepared to take notes. Also, bring a bag breakfast if you like.
